RENEWABLE ENERGY

The demand for renewable energy has never been greater. The technological advances, cost-effectiveness, and potential for significant job creation make these projects a promising way to generate more power to meet the ever-increasing need and invest in communities.

The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America is one trade with many crafts. We lead the way in training, educating, and representing the next generation of skilled construction professionals.  The renewable energy industry is expanding rapidly. We equip our professional craftspeople with the skills and mindset to power this new wave of American industry.

They may work in different disciplines and maintain different skill sets, but training is the backbone for all UBC members. That’s why they’re known as the most highly trained workforce in every industry they serve. Click on the brochure links to learn about more about the UBC's specialty crafts.

TRAINING IS OUR ADVANTAGE

A highly trained, diverse workforce is an important way to ensure the offshore wind industry is built safely and professionally.  In 2021, the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (EAS Carpenters) formed two state-of-the-art training centers to provide the region with the workforce development necessary for the new offshore wind industry and capture the projects that will be funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill.

The Heavy Construction, Pile Driving, and Off Shore Wind Training Facility in Hammonton, NJ, will provide carpenters from across the country with the foundational skills needed to expand the wind energy industry in the onshore and offshore phases and infrastructure work, including concrete formwork, pile driving, rigging, and more.

The EAS Dive School is the only commercial dive school east of the Mississippi and the only union dive school in the country. This facility will become the premier destination for this type of training and has already hosted union carpenters, pile drives, dock builders, millwrights, and commercial divers from up and down the east coast.

THE UBC IS ONE TRADE WITH MANY CRAFTS

UBC carpenters build houses, skyscrapers, hospitals, bridges, and more. They also play a pivotal role in the growing offshore wind industry.

Our carpenters, millwrights, pile drivers, and commercial divers bring their expertise and extensive training to tasks such as erecting turbine towers, installing platform structures, and ensuring the integrity of offshore wind infrastructure, contributing to the growth of renewable energy while upholding the highest standards of craftsmanship.
